The awards were judged by:

  • Alex Bobak, a GP in Wandsworth, south London, who has a special interest in smoking cessation
  • Glyn McIntosh, chief executive of QUIT
  • Andy McEwen, director of the National Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training (NCSCT)

The judges looked for individuals who have demonstrated inspirational leadership or commitment. Those selected for awards were considered to have made a real difference to their service or community, and to the clients and teams they work with.

Like the individual winners, team entrants were required to show what they did served as an example of what can be achieved with dedication, commitment and enthusiasm. They also had to show tangible proof of improved performance in relation to previous standards and achievements.
